How to appeal for a student loan rejection
What should you do if your name is not on the list of students who have been given student loan.
It is so heart breaking and disappointing if you have been left out on a student loan. If you can't see your name on the list, it's not the end for you. There are two options.
1. TO WAIT FOR THE SECOND SELECTION
HELSB advertise every year for an open application session and as a school leaver, you have 3 attempts starting from the year of completion of grade 12, to apply for a student loan, as long as you are below 26 years. So if you miss the first attempt, you can wait for the second one. Or the third one. But however this depends on how critical your situation is.
2. TO APPEAL
An appeal is a letter that a student who has been left out submit to the HELSB to reconsider the application due to valid reasons. These reasons may include.
- academic qualifications
- vanulbility
- future goals and ambitions. etc.
Below is a video on how to write a letter of appeal.
